Bieze Food Group has started to use the Exact EDI Gateway of IT service provider Optimizers. With this new means of communication, the food manufacturer will exchange EDI messages, including electronic delivery note messages, with the retailer Delhaize. With the new tool, custom work is no longer required.
For the production for food retailer Delhaize, Bieze Food Group uses crates with a RFID tag from Delhaize. Every crate is registered with the required data, such as article, batch and Best Before Date information. Every pallet loaded with the crates goes through an RFID gate where a check is performed and where also the SSCC number on pallet level is linked with the IDs of the crates on the pallet.
With the new Exact EDI Gateway, these data are used for the electronic delivery note messages to Delhaize. This enables a DESADV (Despatch Advice, delivery note) message to be sent with SSCC numbers on two levels: pallet and crate. Delhaize uses these messages to store the goods in its fully-automated warehouse.
Flexible tool The EDI Gateway is a flexible tool developed by IT service provider Optimizers and concerns the handling of EDI messages from and to the ERP system of Bieze: Exact Globe. The Exact EDI Gateway was developed using the so-called Software Development Kit of Exact Software and has been certified following a comprehensive audit.
Of course, Bieze has been using EDI for some time now, but previously had a more static EDI system. In order to create an interface with a new customer, custom software had to be written every time. With the current tool this is no longer necessary. Delhaize is Bieze’s first customer for whom the new EDI Gateway is used.
